Varied Accomodation on the Lawrence Exped -Spring 2010

Sleeping on the roof of the Petra Hotel, next to the Jaffa Gate, Jerusalem. The Petra Hotel was built in 1820. It boasts General Allenby and Herman Melville as guests in its hey-day. The Hotel is now a decaying shadow of its former grandure. It was cold sleeping on the roof.
My room at the Amir Hotel in Damascus. I paid 500 Syrian pounds for this spartan room. The staff were friendly.

The dormatory at the Valentine Hotel in Wadi Musa (modern Petra). The hotel is becoming famed for its showing of the video 'Indian Jones & the Last Crusade' every night.
