Heart of Scotland 100 in the LDWA Strider magazine

I discovered the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) in 1994 and I have been a member ever since. The LDWA are the Governing body for the activity of Long Distance Walking. There are 40 odd groups around the country and approximately 6,000 members. The LDWA is famed for organising challenge walk events of 20 miles and more. The annual 100 mile walk in 48 hours is the LDWA's flagship event. This year, at the Spring Bank Holiday, the event was held in the Heart of Scotland. I was lucky enough to take part, but only managed to complete 76 miles before retiring. Next year the 100 event will be held in Shropshire. The spirit and fellowship on the 100 is an amazing thing to be part of.
Above are the pages in the August 2010 issue of the LDWA Strider magazine reporting on the Heart of Scotland 100.
